Camping in winter – a holiday of a special kind. The landscape shines in glittering white, fields, trees and mountains are covered in snow and Lake Zell reflects the white splendor.
Here at the Seecamp campsite on Lake Zell in the snow-covered Salzburger Land you will find everything you need for a perfect winter camping holiday. Cleared parking spaces, warm sanitary rooms, shop and restaurant open and 4 winter fountains scattered around the square.
We offer skiers a ski room with lockable ski boxes, a ski boot drying room and mobile ski and ski boot rentals on site. The ski bus stops at the entrance to the campsite and takes you directly to the cable car in the “Schmitten” ski area with around 70 kilometers of slopes in just a few minutes.
Cross-country skiers can access the 107 km long network of cross-country ski trails in the Zell am See-Kaprun region after just a few minutes’ walk. There are easy cross-country ski trails in the valley, challenging cross-country ski trails with more or fewer ascents and descents or even a high-altitude trail on the Schmitten. Choose the trail that suits your ability and fitness level.
Winter hikers can use the many winter hiking trails from the campsite. A picturesque winter hiking trail stretches 11 km around Lake Zell. You can go winter hiking in the valley, go up the Pinzgau grass mountains to managed huts or use a panoramic high-altitude hiking trail on the Schmitten. There you can treat yourself to regional delicacies in one of the mountain inns.
You can also hike through the snowy landscape on snowshoes. This will take you to places that no one else can reach. Beginners can take part in guided snowshoe hikes.
If you want to experience endless fun with family or friends, go tobogganing. You can reach the start of the various toboggan runs on foot or with a gondola lift. From the start on the mountain – perhaps after a stop at a ski hut or a mountain inn – you go down to the valley on two runners. In our latitudes, tobogganing is called “sleighing”.
The customs in the region are very pronounced in winter. Experience the “Wild Hunt” of the Krampus with Santa Claus. Enjoy the quiet Advent season with Advent markets and exhibitions and Christmas in the mountains. Celebrate the turn of the year with New Year’s Eve celebrations throughout the region. The three wise men are also traveling in our area. And welcome spring with the “Schön- and Schiachperchten”.
